Description
A generous and delectable champagne by Louis Roederer
The property
Founded in 1776 in Reims, Louis Roederer is a Champagne House that has managed to remain family-owned and independent. After more than 200 years of existence, the Louis Roederer House is still owned by the same family. Now led by Frédéric Rouzaud, who represents the seventh generation of the family's lineage, Louis Roederer boasts and embodies the excellence of Champagne around the world, through cuvées crafted like works of art.
The vineyard
With nearly 241 hectares of vines, the Louis Roederer House derives its strength from its extraordinary vineyard, made up solely of Grands and Premiers Crus in the Marne Valley, the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs. A veritable mosaic of terroirs, the Maison Louis Roederer vineyard is divided into 410 plots, reflecting the great diversity of the Champagne region's soils.
The wine
Louis Roederer's Vintage Cuvée sublimates the personality of the great Pinot Noir terroirs of the Montagne de Reims, Verzy and Chouilly. This exceptional vintage champagne is renowned for its finesse, purity, precision and harmony.
The vintage
2014 was marked by three periods of strong climatic shifts. A hot, dry spring gave way to a cool, rainy summer, followed by a hot, sunny and very dry month of September. The chalky soils, which drain well in the middle and bottom of the slope, evacuated the excess water and regulated the development of the vines. This singularity of the terroir is combined with the viticultural practices of the house, which advocate the balance of the grapes and the search for optimal maturity.
Vinification and ageing
25% of the vinification is carried out in the cellar. 20% malolactic fermentation. The dosage is 8 g/litre.
The blend
Louis Roederer’s Vintage 2014 comprises a blend of 71% Pinot Noir and 29% Chardonnay.
