Decanter

Pleasant stone and strawberry characters; rounded, with a touch of bitter red grapefruit and salted crackers. 75% Pinot Noir and 25% Chardonnay from the grand cru village of Mailly on the northern face of the Montagne de Reims.

James Suckling

Stuart Pigott

Very complex nose of candied fruits, apricot tart and vanilla sugar. Mouth-filling richness, the fruit aromas completely filling out the expansive body. The tangerine and nectarine fruit just keep on coming at you, but the balance is spot-on so this never feels like too much. Beautiful integration of fruit, creaminess and acidity. Drink now.

La RVF

A Brut Réserve dominated by Chardonnay, very classic, with notes of white flowers and a moderately pronounced autolytic, pastry-like character. The bubbles are lively; they could refine further, but the overall impression is elegant.

Wine Enthusiast

Joe Czerwinski

Seems very fruity and simple at first--offering little more than hints of peach and strawberry. But it picks up on the midpalate, turning toastier and more savory. Plump, yet finishes with a crisp burst of citrus.

Description

The elegance and fruitiness of a Brut champagne signed by Mailly Grand Cru

The property

Located in the heart of the Montagne de Reims, the Champagne Mailly Grand Cru House is unique both for its terroir, which gives the cuvées finesse and balance, and for its contemporary history.

The year 1929 indeed marks the creation of the Society of Producers of Mailly Champagne, in order to face the economic crisis that occurred after the First World War. The union of several winegrowers aims at the elaboration of cuvées of great refinement magnifying this terroir classified Grand Cru in 1920.

Fresh and of a beautiful minerality, the wines of the Champagne Mailly Grand Cru House are recognized for their balance, their race style as well as their great elegance.

The vineyard

The Mailly Grand Cru House watches over a Champagne terroir of 70 hectares spread over more than 600 plots. 80 winegrowers pay rigorous attention to this exceptional terroir.

The wine

This Brut Réserve from Mailly Grand Cru is the very expression of the house's cuvée style. The blend is completed with 30 to 40% of reserve wines available over 10 vintages, aged in tanks and barrels. The dosage of this Brut champagne is 7 to 8 g/liter.

Vinification and aging

The grapes are hand-picked. Exclusive use of the first press. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in thermo-regulated stainless steel tanks and in barrels. The aging is carried out on slats in traditional chalk pits

Blend

Pinot noir (75%) and chardonnay (25%).
