Description
Ice Impérial Rosé by Moët & Chandon: a harmonious Rosé champagne
The producer
The Moët & Chandon Champagne House was founded in 1743 by Claude Moët, a visionary wine merchant, who quickly made Moet Chandon a reference in the highest courts of Europe. A few years later his grandson, Jean-Rémy Moët, developed the reputation of the house internationally.
Jean-Rémy Moët notably created the iconic cuvée of the house, the Moet and Chandon Imperial, in honor of the Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, who visited the estate on several occasions and who allegedly invented the tradition of bashing open a bottle of Moët Chandon champagne to celebrate a victory with his troops.
Owned by the LVMH group since 1987, the Moet and Chandon Champagne House produces, from a very rigorous selection of Champagne terroirs, unique cuvées recognized across borders for their quality and for their seductive personality.
The wine
Moët & Chandon's Ice Imperial Rosé is the first and only Rosé champagne specially created to be served on the rocks. Its dosage is 38 g/litre.
The blend
Ice Imperial Rosé by Moët & Chandon is the fruit of a blend that magnifies the unique features of each of the three Champagne grape varieties. The Pinot Noir (45 to 55%) combines aromatic intensity with a beautiful structure, the Pinot Meunier (35 to 45%) seduces by its roundness, its amplitude and its richness and lastly the Chardonnay (5 to 10%) provides acidity, precision and refreshing notes to the finish.
This blend is completed by 20 to 30% reserve wines to refine the intensity, richness and consistency of this Rosé Champagne.
Ice Impérial Rosé Champagne by Moët & Chandon: Characteristics and tasting tips
The tasting
Colour
Brilliant, the colour is a deep pink with subtle golden highlights
Nose
The nose blends aromas of red fruits (Morello cherries, cranberries) and juicy fruits (figs, nectarines) with notes of grenadine syrup.
Palate
On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, mellow and firm, and the sugar of the red fruits melts away. Moët & Chandon's Ice Impérial Rosé is harmonious, being both fresh and fruity. The freshness continues on the finish with a hint of pink grapefruit.
