Description

An intense Grand Cru Classé from Saint-Émilion and a very good vintage

The estate

Located on the famous Saint-Émilion appellation, Château Barde-Haut is a historic, 250-year-old estate. Patrice Lévêque and Hélène Garcin-Lévêque have given their all for this estate with enormous potential to gain a little more quality and renown each day.

The vineyard

The vines of Château Barde-Haut are ideally located on a south-facing natural amphitheatre overlooking the Dordogne. A Saint-Émilion limestone base, as well as clay, which gives strength to the wines, can be found on the soils of the property.

The vintage

After a rainy winter and a particularly hot February, the vines underwent an early budding, followed by an equally early and homogeneous flowering.

The blend

Merlot (80%), Cabernet Franc (20%).

The tasting

The 2020 vintage of Château Barde-Haut is characterised by a rich fruit, voluptuous on a silky palate, powerful but perfectly balanced between a tension and an elegance, making for a harmonious whole. This is a perfectly made wine which will be accessible at a fairly young age and which is already showing great ageing potential.
