Marks and reviews
As a Premier Grand Cru Classé, Château-Figeac embodies the excellence of Saint-Emilion's fine wines throughout the world. Château-Figeac has belonged to the Manoncourt family since 1892.
Château-Figeac enjoys an exceptional location, to the west of the Saint-Emilion appellation, on the fringe of the Pomerol appellation. The estate's vineyard covers 40 hectares of vines that are planted on three different gravelly hills. Respect for biodiversity and the flora and fauna are at the heart of the estate's concerns. The grape varieties are Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
2016 was a very hot and extremely dry summer. The quality of the Figeac terroir preserved the vines from any complications during the ageing period. The 40 mm of rain in September enabled the grapes to reach their full potential. The harvest took place from September 23rd to October 20th.
The vinification and ageing
The wine is aged in new oak barrels for 15 to 18 months.
Cabernet Sauvignon (38%), Merlot (36%) and Cabernet Franc (26%).
Deep, this wine is a beautiful black cherry colour with magenta highlights.
When aired, this wine reveals intense fruity (blackberries, blueberries) and floral fragrances combined with delicious notes of ginger and cedar.
The attack is fresh and creamy. Precise and gourmet, the palate is seduced due to its structure and its precision. Rich and noble tannins are combined with refreshing notes of graphite due to the quality of the terroir. The finish is persistent, exuding powerful and intense aromas.
