Description
A rich and fresh Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé
The estate
Situated in the heart of the village of Saint-Emilion near the monolithic church, Château La Couspaude has belonged to the Aubert family since 1750. This Grand Cru Classé, known in the Middle Ages as "La Croix Paute", takes its name from the cross that lies at the entrance of estate, which is a meeting point for pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela.
The vineyard
Château La Couspaude 2021 is a Saint-Emilion wine that stems from a 7.01-hectare vineyard. The vines are 30 years old on average and are poised atop of the appellation’s limestone plateau.
Vinification and ageing
The grapes are harvested by hand in small crates and selected by plot. They are sorted before a pre-fermentation maceration at low temperature. Manual punching of the cap. Malolactic fermentation is carried out in new barrels, as is the 18-month ageing period.
The blend
Château La Couspaude 2021 comprises a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
