Château Le Prieuré 2021

Supple and nicely agile on the palate, with flavors of cool blackcurrants and just-ripe strawberries—verging on tart, yet actually giving a lifted, bright expression. High-toned for sure, but it works with fine, lightly gripping tannins and a cool, mentholated finish. Complete and true to the vintage, with lingering juiciness on the finish.

Dark berry fruit, orange peel and walnuts on the nose. It’s juicy and medium-bodied, with pretty citrus undertones to the berry fruit. Fine tannins. From organically grown grapes. Try in 2024.

Crushed rocks, flowers, espresso, and licorice define the perfume. The medium-bodied palate is marked by freshness, sweetness, and vibrant red fruits, enhanced by the wine’s oceanic influences and a refreshing touch of mint that appears on the backend. Drink from 2024–2038.

Intense ruby core, purple reflections, subtle brightening on the rim. Delicate aromas of elderberries, blackberries and a hint of tobacco. Juicy red berries and redcurrants, fresh and vibrant with a touch of minerality and citrus on the finish.

Medium-intensity ruby red. This has settled in well with ageing, full of the sappy, finessed fruits of the vintage, with real charm and balance, and the austerity of En Primeur has begun to soften. A blend of 91% Merlot and 9% Cabernet Franc, Le Prieure 2021 is deep garnet-purple in color. It bursts with bold notions of kirsch, raspberry pie, and juicy plums, followed by hints of dried herbs and damp soil. Medium-bodied, the palate is plush and juicy, with bright red berry flavors paving the refreshing finish.

Very taut on the nose, fresh, with notes of flowers and aromatic herbs. On the palate, the sweet fruit gains breadth, leading to a generous, concentrated finish, marked by oak ageing.

Frankness and purity are two elements that define the bouquet of Prieuré 2021. Precise, the wine is slender while having tannins that provide some breadth and offer promise. An elegant, well-judged wine that certainly still has more to reveal.

Beautiful deep dark red with purple hues. Very aromatic nose, delicate, fruity and riper than expected. Delicate on the attack, flavorful mid-palate; the wine evolves with fruit, on a supple body and a slightly austere finish. Medium length. Blend: 91% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc.
