Founded in 1968 by Al and Boots Brounstein, Diamond Creek is indeed a jewel of Napa Valley. Thanks to these two pioneers’ vision for modern winemaking in California, the estate became very quickly well known for its talent in boosting the expression of cabernet sauvignon. To see their great project through, the couple carried out rigorous studies of the two determining elements in the character of each wine : knowing the soil and the microclimate of these great terroirs. Today the property of Louis Roederer, the eminent Champagne House, Diamond Creek has not stopped seeking to create wines that express the unique character of their plots, which benefit from a rare and varied geology.
This Gravely Meadow Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 from Diamond Creek is a Californian wine that comes from a vineyard of about 2 hectares, planted in 1968 on a brown, pebbly soil.
The 2018 Napa Valley vintage saw an almost perfect vegetative growth. The grapes matured gradually and evenly until the harvest was fully ripe.
Winemaking and ageing
Following the harvest, the grapes were carefully sorted. Cold maceration for 4-5 days before fermentation for 7-9 days. Ageing in French oak barrels (100% new) over 21 months.

Petit verdot (5,1%)
The nose reveals graphite, sage and infused black tea notes.
The palate entices with its elegant tannins, its scents of redcurrant and plum mingled with spicy and mineral touches. The palate unveils lavander and dried herbs, nutmeg and cacao notes which draw out to a lingering finish.
