Description
Characteristics and tasting notes of the Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Champ Canet" 2024 from Domaine du Château de Meursault
Tasting notes
Appearance
A luminous pale golden hue lights up the glass, reflecting the great freshness of this cru.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet reveals a beautiful complexity, blending aromas of perfectly ripe stone fruits, such as white peach, with citrus notes evoking lime. Subtle floral and spicy touches, along with a fine woody character, round out the whole.
Palate
Of remarkable intensity, the palate offers a delicate texture and a structure of great precision. The perfectly integrated acidity balances with flavours of citrus and stone fruits. The chalky minerality expresses itself fully, guiding the wine towards a long finish marked by an elegant salinity.
Food and wine pairings
This great white wine will pair wonderfully with oysters, seafood or delicate white fish prepared steamed or poached, served with a butter or lemon sauce. It will also enhance roast poultry with cream and mushrooms, dishes based on truffles or morels, as well as aged hard cheeses.
Serving and cellaring
This Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Champ Canet" 2024 can be enjoyed in its youth for its freshness, but it will continue to evolve and will ideally be drunk until around 2033.

The estate
Founded in the 11th century, the Domaine du Château de Meursault is one of the most emblematic historic properties in Burgundy. Extending over approximately 67 hectares in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, the estate has experienced a true renewal since its acquisition in 2012 by the Halley family. Today led by Olivier Halley, this viticultural gem stands out for its deeply environmentally respectful approach. The entire vineyard is thus farmed organically, illustrating the estate's commitment to preserving the authenticity of its exceptional terroirs.
The vineyard
This wine comes from a tiny plot located within the prestigious climat of Puligny-Montrachet. Facing east and perched at the top of the slope, the vines thrive on soils composed of gravel and clay-limestone. This limestone-rich terroir, cultivated according to the principles of organic farming, gives the grapes exceptional minerality and concentration. The harvest is carried out exclusively by hand by dedicated teams.
The vintage
The year 2024 was marked by particularly demanding weather conditions, with exceptional rainfall and strong pressure from fungal diseases. The rainy spring and summer led to coulure, considerably reducing yields. Fortunately, a milder September allowed the surviving berries to reach optimal ripeness.
Winemaking and aging
To craft this Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Champ Canet" 2024, the manually harvested grapes undergo extremely rigorous sorting to retain only the healthiest berries. Vinification is carried out gently to preserve the natural freshness of the fruit and the expression of the terroir. The wine then benefits from aging in oak barrels, bringing a subtle structure without masking the purity of the juice.
