Description
A Loire white wine combining power and refinement
The estate
Arnaud, Lionel and Jean-Christophe Bourgeois are the third generation to lead the family estate founded in 1950 by Henri Bourgeois. Spanning 72 hectares, the vineyard of Domaine Henri Bourgeois extends over a mosaic of terroirs made up of clay-limestone soils, Kimmeridgian marl and flint, all contributing to the signature of each of these Loire wines. Through passion and rigor applied both to vineyard management and to plot-based vinification, for which they were among the pioneers, the Bourgeois family produces wines recognized for their quality, finesse and pure expression of each of these great original terroirs.
The vineyard
Jadis de la Famille Bourgeois is a Sancerre wine whose uniqueness comes from its historic terroir located on the Côte de Chavignol, enjoying an excellent exposure. This cuvée comes from a selection of parcels whose soil is composed of thousands of small oyster shell fragments shaped like commas.
Vinification and ageing
A gentle pressing is followed by a two-day cold settling in stainless steel tanks. Fermentation takes place in 600-litre demi-muids, followed by 14 months of ageing. Racking and bottling are carried out in accordance with the lunar cycle. Then additional ageing in bottles for several months in the estate’s cellars is done before the release of this Sancerre white wine.
Grape variety
Jadis 2023 from Domaine Henri Bourgeois is 100% sauvignon blanc.
