The Estate

Arnaud, Lionel and Jean-Christophe Bourgeois represent the third generation at the helm of the family estate founded in 1950 by Henri Bourgeois. Covering 72 hectares, the vineyard of the Domaine Henri Bourgeois extends over a mosaic of terroirs composed of clay-limestone soils, Kimmeridgian marl, and flint that contribute to the signature of each of these Loire wines.

Through passion and rigor in both vineyard management and parcel-by-parcel vinification, of which they were one of the pioneers, the Bourgeois Family produces wines recognized for their quality, finesse, and pure expression of each of these great terroirs of origin.

The Vineyard

This Les Côtes aux Valets cuvée from the Bourgeois Family is a vin de Sancerre from a 1.06-hectare parcel located in the southern part of the appellation. Planted in 1986, the vines are rooted in soil composed predominantly of limestone clay.

Winemaking

Alcoholic fermentation is carried out in stainless steel tanks for about thirty days. It starts at a temperature of 15°C and ends at 19°C, with regular tastings of the must throughout fermentation and until the élevage phase of this vin blanc de Sancerre. The first racking is carried out between 5 and 15 days after the end of alcoholic fermentation.
