The estate
An essential reference in Chablis, Burgundy, Domaine Laroche stands out due to its unique historical heritage, which dates back to the 9th century. Comprising 90 hectares of land, Domaine Laroche’s vineyard, managed using agroecological viticulture, is composed exclusively of Premiers Crus and Grands Crus. Domaine Laroche has been part of the Advini group since 2009 and is renowned for the precision, elegance and aromatic richness of its wines, which authentically express the subtle Chablis climats.
The wine
"Les Clos" 2019 by Domaine Laroche is a Chablis wine made from vines that are 50 years old on average and planted in a 1.12-hectare vineyard. This vineyard, which is recorded as having been first planted in the 9th century, takes its name from the fact that it was once surrounded by walls. Situated opposite the village of Chablis, the vineyard benefits from a southern exposure that ripens the grapes beautifully, a draining soil along with concentrated, acidic and aromatic grapes. Part of the vineyard was replanted in 2018 with the massal selection of the 1950 Blanchots parcels.
The vintage
2019 was marked by several episodes of extreme conditions (frost, hail, drought, heatwave). The harvest, which was carried out rapidly, enabled the teams to harvest perfectly healthy and beautifully fresh grapes.
Vinification and ageing
Following harvesting by hand, the whole bunches are pressed in a pneumatic press. The must rests for 12 hours in large vats to accelerate natural sedimentation before fermentation. The wine is aged for 12 months in 1 to 7-year-old French oak barrels of 227 litres, 400 litres and 600 litres, then in stainless steel tanks on fine lees.
