Description
Characteristics and tasting tips for the Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Petite-Chapelle" 2023 from Domaine Trapet
Tasting
Colour
This wine reveals a bright, deep ruby-red colour.
Nose
Intense and complex, the nose releases superb aromas of red and black fruits such as cherry, blueberry and wild blackberry. It is further enriched by delicate floral notes of rose petals and a spicy hint of liquorice.
Palate
The palate is at once delicate, fresh and beautifully intense. Still slightly austere in its youth, it offers a silky texture supported by exceptionally fine tannins. Harmonious and complete, the whole extends into a long, saline and deeply mineral finish.
Food and wine pairings
This red wine will pair beautifully with full-flavoured meats such as a rib of beef, braised beef in sauce or furred game. It will also be a delicious match for spiced dishes such as a tagine or couscous, as well as regional cheeses like Époisses.
Serving and cellaring
This Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Petite-Chapelle" 2023 deserves a few years in the cellar to reveal its full potential. It can be enjoyed with great pleasure until around 2040.
The finesse and minerality of a Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru by Domaine Trapet
The estate
The family's winemaking history began in 1859 with the acquisition of a first plot in Burgundy. Today, Domaine Trapet covers 18.5 hectares and ranks among the region's essential references. Run by Jean-Louis Trapet and his wife Andrée, the estate stands out for its pioneering commitment. The entire vineyard is certified organic and biodynamic, reflecting a determination to preserve the authentic expression of its terroirs.
The vineyard
This cuvée comes from a historic 0.40-hectare plot in the Gevrey-Chambertin appellation, just below the Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru. This terroir lies on shallow brown limestone soils, rich in white marl and crinoidal limestone. The vines are farmed under strict organic and biodynamic certification, fostering a natural balance and optimal soil vitality.
Winemaking and ageing
The Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Petite-Chapelle" 2023 is crafted in the purest Burgundian tradition. Vinification is carried out entirely with whole bunches, a method favoured by the estate to preserve the purity of the fruit and its floral finesse. The wine is then carefully aged in oak barrels, allowing it to evolve slowly at its own pace throughout the winter.
Grape variety
Pinot Noir (100%).
