Description
An exceptional Alsace Grand Cru from the prestigious Schoenenbourg terroir
The estate
Founded in 1870 by Louis Trapet, Domaine Trapet is an iconic name in Alsace, with 15 hectares under vine. Now run by Jean-Louis and Andrée Trapet, the estate has followed biodynamic practices since 1995, fostering biodiversity and the expression of terroir. Involved for seven generations, the family stands out for its dual Burgundian and Alsatian heritage, as well as its commitment to viticultural innovation.
The vineyard
Located north of Riquewihr, the Schoenenbourg Grand Cru sits at an altitude of between 265 and 380 metres. This exceptional terroir within the Alsace Grand Cru appellation benefits from a complex soil composed of dolomitic marl, siliceous scree from Vosges sandstone and calcareous marl from the Lias, giving the wine remarkable minerality and complexity.
Winemaking and aging
For this Riesling Schoenenbourg Grand Cru, Domaine Trapet employs traditional, terroir-respectful winemaking, with careful aging that allows the full richness and complexity of this grand cru to shine through.
