An essential reference point for the great wines of Italy, Frescobaldi embodies the excellence of winegrowing in Tuscany. With seven different estates located in benchmark growing areas, Frescobaldi stands out for its ability to illustrate the full diversity of expression of the greatest Tuscan terroirs. Each of the estates has its own history, its own terroir, and passionate men and women who are driven by the desire to produce great wines. Frescobaldi - Tenuta di Nipozzano is placed in the heart of the famous winegrowing area of Chianti Rufina, one of eight geographical boundaries of the Chianti appellation. The wines of Tenuta di Nipozzano, symbolic of the Florentine wine tradition, are characterised by their exceptional aromatic range, with typically balsamic notes, their exceptional longevity on the palate and their great ageing potential. Opulent and profound, the wines of Tenuta di Nipozzano reflect a unique expression of the sangiovese grape, varietal to the terroir of this part of Tuscany.
Montesodi 2018 de Frescobaldi - Tenuta di Nipozzano is an IGT Toscana wine that stems from its eponymous vineyard placed at 400 metres of altitude. This terroir rests on schist soils that benefit from a superb south-west orientation.
During the tasting, Montesodi 2015 IGT Toscana Castello Nipozzano Frescobaldi shows a beautiful ruby red colour with garnet highlights.
Intense and full of freshness, the aromatic bouquet unveils acidic citrus notes, delicate floral notes of cherry blossom and violet, all amid a lovely minerality.
The scents revealed in the nose come out with intensity on the palate. Flavours of morello cherry in liqueur and candied citrus peel - citron and blood orange - evolve into coffee notes. Structured by silky tannins, the palate has a mineral, lasting character.
