An elegant and full-bodied Tuscan red wine

The estate

Founded in 1993 by Ferruccio Ferragamo, Il Borro stretches across a historic estate in San Giustino Valdarno, Tuscany, with origins dating back to the 12th century. Owned by the Ferragamo family, this prestigious wine estate produces high-quality wines from carefully selected plots. Its uniqueness lies in the harmonious combination of a restored medieval village, a 19th-century residence affiliated with Relais & Châteaux, and modern, excellence-driven viticulture.

The vineyard

The Il Borro vineyard benefits from the IGT Toscana designation and flourishes on the historic lands of San Giustino Valdarno. Carefully selected plots allow for the optimal expression of international grape varieties in this exceptional Tuscan terroir.

The vintage

The year 2021 began with a mild winter and few episodes of intense cold. Spring was cool with low rainfall, followed by a summer with average temperatures. The life-saving rains at the end of August allowed for full ripening of the grapes, resulting in wines remarkable for their color intensity and full, round flavor.

Vinification and aging

After manual harvesting, fermentation takes place in steel tanks. Aging lasts a total of 24 months: the Merlot matures in 20-hectoliter French oak casks, while the Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah are aged in one- and two-year-old French barrels. A final 6 months in steel tanks completes the aging process.

Blend

Merlot (50%), Cabernet Sauvignon (35%), and Syrah (15%).
