A Second Wine from Haut-Médoc imbued with elegance and richness
The property
The Château Sociando-Mallet is an 83-hectare estate overlooking the Gironde estuary. This property, located on the left bank of Bordeaux, is among the most beautiful unclassified wines of the Médoc.
The vineyard
The vines, averaging 25 years old, are planted on a gravel and clay terroir with a limestone subsoil. The vineyard is traditionally cultivated, without anti-botrytis treatments and through a selection and reasoned use of organic amendments.
The wine
Produced under the Haut-Médoc appellation, La Demoiselle de Sociando-Mallet 2023 is the Second Wine of the château. This cuvée takes its name from a species of dragonfly living in the Médoc.
Vinification and aging
Harvested by hand, the grapes are sorted on a table before and after destemming. Traditional vinification, accompanied by pump-overs and rack-and-returns, as well as malolactic fermentation, are carried out in thermo-regulated cement and stainless steel vats. Maceration for 25 days.
Blend
La Demoiselle de Sociando Mallet 2023 is a cuvée made from a blend of merlot (79%) and cabernet sauvignon (21%).
