Description
The estate
The largest wine estate in Burgundy, Domaine Louis Latour has a wine-growing history of more than 200 years. Spread over the most beautiful Premier and Grand Cru plots from the Côte de Beaune to the Côte de Nuits, the 50-hectare vineyard of Domaine Louis Latour produces a range of wines from 130 appellations, each of which expresses with authenticity and refinement the characteristics of their land of origin.
Domaine Louis Latour has been actively committed since 1996 to viticulture that is conscious and respectful of the environment.
The vineyard
Thomas Jefferson's favorite wine, Louis Latour's 2018 Meursault Premier cru "Goutte d'Or" is a Meursault Premier cru wine made from a vineyard located near the eponymous village in the direction of Puligny-Montrachet. The vines, 35 years old on average, are planted on soils composed of marl, limestone but also flint whose shape and colour resembles a drop of gold have given this plot its unique name.
Winemaking and ageing
Fermentation in new oak barrels. Ageing for 8 to 10 months in oak barrels, 50% of which are new.

The wine has a pale gold colour.
Nose
The nose is complex, releasing fragrances of acacia, yellow fruit and toasted almonds.
Palate
Round and ample, the palate has a lovely freshness mingled with notes of yellow peach and almond.
Food and wine pairing
Meursault Premier cru "Goutte d'Or" 2018 from Louis Latour pairs perfectly with vol-au-vents, rump of veal, pike with morille mushrooms or cheese.
To serve
For the best tasting, this Burgundy wine should be served at between 12 and 14°C.
