Marks and reviews
Domaine Louis Latour is the largest wine estate in Burgundy and boasts a winemaking history of over 200 years. Spread over the most beautiful plots of land in Premiers and Grands Crus from the Côte de Beaune to the Côte de Nuits, Domaine Louis Latour’s 50-hectare vineyard gives rise to a range of wines from 130 appellations, each of which authentically expresses the refined characteristics of its terroir of origin.
Since 1996, Domaine Louis Latour has been actively involved in environmentally-friendly viticulture.
A favourite wine of Thomas Jefferson, Louis Latour's "Goutte d'Or" is a Meursault 1er cru wine that stems from a vineyard located near the eponymous village on the way to Puligny-Montrachet. The vines are 35 years old on average and are planted on soils composed of marl, limestone and flint. The shape and colour of these soils, which resemble a drop of gold, have given this parcel its unique name.
Vinification and ageing
The hand-picked grapes are fermented in oak barrels. 100% malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged for 8 to 10 months in French oak barrels (50% new) from the estate's cooperage.
This wine showcases a beautiful pale gold colour.
The bouquet combines notes of brioche, acacia honey and fresh almond.
The palate is seduced by this wine’s round tannins and aromas of almond paste and hazelnut. The finish is persistent and reveals a delicious minerality.
Food and wine pairing
A "bouchée à la reine", a rump of veal, pike fish, morels or many cheeses will complement this Burgundy white wine.
Louis Latour's Meursault 1er cru "Goutte d'Or" 2019 can be cellared until 2026 to express its full range of aromas.
For an optimal tasting, serve between 12 and 14°C.
