The estate
Created in 1797 by Jean Latour in Aloxe-Corton, the Burgundian House Louis Latour traces its origins back to 1731 when this family of coopers acquired their first parcels in the Côte de Beaune. A family-owned estate run by the Latour family for over two centuries, it now operates the largest domain of Grands Crus in the Côte d'Or in Burgundy with its 50 hectares including exceptional plots such as Corton Grèves and Corton-Charlemagne.
The vineyard
The “En Chevret” climat is located just below the departmental road, directly beneath the “Caillerets” parcel, on the border with Meursault. This terroir of Volnay benefits from a unique exposure and clay-limestone soils that give the wine great elegance vintage after vintage. The vines, averaging 25 years old, produce a controlled yield of 35 hl/ha.
Winemaking and aging
Hand harvesting is followed by traditional vinification in open vats with complete malolactic fermentation. Aging takes place over 10 to 12 months in French oak barrels from the Louis Latour cooperage, with 35 % new wood at medium toast.
Grape variety
100 % Pinot Noir.
