The Volnay appellation covers a total area of 220 hectares in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, only in the town of Volnay (the commune of Meursault hosts the name Volnay-Santenots). The vineyards are located between 230 and 280 meters above sea level and they benefit from a terroir composed of various limestone soil. Volnay only produces red wines from the Pinot Noir grape variety. They present a beautiful bright ruby, light garnet colour. The nose offers characteristic floral (violet) and red fruit aromas, and then develops spicy, animal and cooked fruit as the wines age. These wines are concentrated and complex. They can be enjoyed in their youth and after a few years of cellaring.
