Chateau Grand-Puy-Lacoste is a 5th Classified Growth that is produced in the Pauillac appellation. The 38 year old vines are planted on a 58 hectare vineyard on deep gravel hillocks. Chateau Grand-Puy-Lacoste 2016 is a blend of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon and 21% Merlot. The wine is matured in barrels, of which 75% are new.
The weather for the 2016 vintage was exceptional. Winter was mild and experienced heavy rainfall. During the month of June, there was little to no water, and temperatures were warm during the day and cold at night. The grapes reached optimal ripeness for the harvest, which was from September 28th to October 13th.
Chateau Grand-Puy-Lacoste 2016 has a brilliant purple colour. It has intense aromas of black fruits, spices and flowers. In the mouth, proves to be complex, dense and sweet. Chateau Grand-Puy-Lacoste 2016 is fresh and masterfully-balanced. The tannins melt in the incredibly long lasting finish. Overall, an elegant and complex red from Pauillac.
The deep garnet-purple colored 2016 Grand-Puy-Lacoste gives up pure kirsch and red and black currants with violets and baking spices. Medium-bodied, firm and grainy, it's very expressive with good concentration and length.
