A great Pauillac wine seducing with freshness and elegance
The estate
Located in the heart of the appellation Pauillac, on the left bank of Bordeaux, the Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste took its current form in 1855, although it was established as early as the 16th century. The estate was shaped by the tenure of Raymond Dupin from 1930 to 1978. He then handed it over to the Borie family in 1978, which has since carried out numerous renovations. Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste is today one of the most representative crus of the Pauillac appellation.
The vineyard
Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste is a Pauillac wine produced from a 90-hectare vineyard, 60 hectares of which are planted in one block. The vines, averaging 38 years old, are planted on deep gravelly slopes.
The vintage
The 2024 vintage demonstrates the team's resilience in the face of atypical weather, marked by a mild winter and a hot, dry summer conducive to excellent grape ripeness. Despite some coulure and millerandage on the Cabernet Sauvignon, yields are satisfactory (38 hl/ha) and quality is on point. Manual harvests, conducted with rigor from September 25 to October 8, allowed for careful selection. Gentle vinifications revealed an elegant, flavorful and accessible wine, enhanced by measured barrel aging.
Vinification and aging
Aged in French oak barrels (70% new).
Blend
Cabernet Sauvignon (78%) and Merlot (22%).
