Description
An elegant and complex Pauillac red wine
The estate
In the heart of the Pauillac appellation, the wines by Château La Fleur Peyrabon showcase a great personality. On the left bank of Bordeaux, this estate has been brilliantly managed by Patrick Bernard since 1998, who puts great emphasis on producing elegant and refined wines, that reflect all the unique features of this great terroir.
The vineyard
This Cru Bourgeois comprises an almost 7-hectare vineyard in a very large Médoc terroir. The vines, which are 13 years old on average, are planted on sandy gravel with a clay subsoil and lead to the production of Pauillac wines that portray intense aromas and a seductive finesse.
Vinification and ageing
The hand-picked grapes are sorted before and after destemming. Vinification is carried out in temperature-controlled concrete vats, along with pumping over, punching down of the cap and adapted delestage in order to encourage a gentle extraction. Maceration for approximately 21 days. The presses are consistently separated into barrels. Malolactic fermentation in barrels. The wine is aged for 14 months in barrels (of which 50% is new wood) and then fined in tanks.
