Description
Characteristics and tasting notes for L'Olivette 2024 from Clos Marie
Tasting Notes
Appearance
This wine reveals a beautiful red hue.
Nose
The nose reveals subtle and delicate notes of black olive tapenade, harmoniously accompanied by aromas of black fruits and typical nuances of garrigue.
Palate
On the palate, this wine stands out for its tenderness and finesse. It offers a full-bodied, charming and very well-balanced fruit character, stretching into a sumptuously elegant finish.
Food and wine pairing
This cuvée pairs beautifully with roast duckling with figs, an osso buco or a roasted lamb shank. More generally, it will ideally accompany roasted or slow-cooked meats seasoned with Mediterranean herbs.
Serving and cellaring
To fully enjoy L'Olivette 2024, it is recommended to decant this wine and serve it at a temperature of 16°C. While already very seductive in its youth, it has the structure needed to age favourably in the cellar until around 2034.
The fruity and elegant expression of a Pic Saint-Loup wine
The estate
Founded in 1995, Clos Marie is located in Lauret, at the heart of the Languedoc. Run since its beginnings by current owners Françoise Julien and Christophe Peyrus, this estate was born from the transmission of family vines. Pioneers in the region, the duo quickly steered the vineyard towards biodynamic farming. Today, the estate stands as an essential reference within its appellation, renowned for producing wines that combine finesse, freshness and a deep respect for Mediterranean terroir.
The vineyard
Spanning around twenty hectares at the foot of Pic Saint-Loup, the vineyard is farmed organically and biodynamically, with no use of pesticides or insecticides. The vines dedicated to this cuvée thrive on former olive groves, made up of clay-silt soils and limestone scree. This foothill terroir, harvested exclusively by hand, encourages optimal ripeness while preserving lovely freshness.
Winemaking and ageing
The estate's philosophy favours a natural approach, with winemaking carried out without additives to preserve the purity of the fruit. L'Olivette 2024 is then aged in large wooden vessels, specifically half-barrels and foudres, allowing the tannic structure to be refined without imparting excessive woody aromas to the wine.
Grape varieties
This blend is made up of Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault.
