A fresh, balanced red wine from Terrasses du Larzac
The estate
Located in the heart of Terrasses du Larzac, Mas Cal Demoura is an estate whose pioneering spirit and outstanding cuvées make it a driving force in the development of Languedoc wines. Founded in the 1990s, the estate has been owned since 2004 by Isabelle and Vincent Goumard, whose ambition is to reveal the potential of this exceptional Jonquières terroir through every wine they make.
The vineyard
A benchmark among Languedoc wines, Mas Cal Demoura tends 16 hectares of vines on soils made up mainly of limestone scree and clay-limestone. The organically farmed vines enjoy a Mediterranean climate tempered by the cool air of the Larzac, while also benefiting from a maritime influence that limits the effects of drought.
The wine
Terre de Jonquières from Mas Cal Demoura is a Terrasses du Larzac wine made from grapes grown on Jonquières terroirs with clay-limestone soils and limestone scree.
Vinification and ageing
Aged for 12 months in 500/600-litre demi-muids and foudres, followed by a further 4 months in stainless steel vats once the blend has been harmonised.
Blend
The 2019 Terre de Jonquières cuvée from Mas Cal Demoura is a blend of Syrah, Cinsault, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Carignan.
