Chateau Margaux 2006: A Highly Concentrated Margaux
The vines of Château Margaux, a
1st Classified Growth in the legendary
Margaux appellation, are planted in gravel soils, which characterize the appellation. The blend of this wine is made from 90%
Cabernet Sauvignon, 4%
Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot and 2%
Cabernet Franc. The grapes for the 2006 vintage were meticulously selected in the vineyard: only 36% of the entire harvest was used to make this Château Margaux’s grand vin (and if you take into account the losses from racking, just a third of the harvest made it into the wine.)
Château Margaux 2006 reveals elegant Cabernet Sauvignon aromas since the variety dominates the final blend. The
tannins are
plush yet
fine-grained at the same time, and there is an
intensely long, savoury finish. This
powerful yet
graceful balanced wine is the purest expression of Château Margaux’ terroir.
