Description
An exceptional wine from Languedoc - Pic Saint Loup, both subtle and generous
The estate
At the heart of the Pic Saint Loup appellation, Clos Marie has been a benchmark among the estates of Languedoc since 1995. Founded by Françoise Julien and her husband, the winemaker Christophe Peyrus, the estate takes its name from Marie, Françoise's grandmother, who once cultivated a few vineyard plots for the local cooperative.
Taking over this family heritage, the couple undertakes a profound transformation of the vineyard with the aim of enhancing the terroirs of the region through cuvées of great personality. Today, Clos Marie extends over nearly 22 carefully cultivated hectares.
The vineyard
The Simon cuvée comes from vines planted mid-slope on clay-limestone soils, characteristic of Pic Saint Loup. This exceptional terroir allows for ideal maturation of the grapes, giving the wine intensity, freshness and balance.
The blend
This Simon 2011 from Clos Marie is the result of a blend of grenache, syrah and mourvèdre.
