Description
An emblematic cuvée from Languedoc - Pic Saint Loup, between finesse and character
The estate
Since 1995, Clos Marie has been one of the essential estates of the Pic Saint Loup appellation. This wine project was born from the shared passion of Françoise Julien and her husband, the winemaker Christophe Peyrus. The name of the estate pays tribute to Marie, Françoise's grandmother, who once cultivated a few vines whose grapes joined the cooperative production.
In taking over this family business, the couple embarked on an ambitious restructuring of the vineyard, driven by the desire to reveal the uniqueness of the Languedoc terroirs. Today, Clos Marie oversees about 22 hectares of vines, managed with high standards and respect for life.
The vineyard
The Simon cuvée comes from vines planted on mid-slopes, on typical clay-limestone soils of the Pic Saint Loup. This terroir, both demanding and generous, offers a beautiful concentration to the grapes while preserving their freshness and natural balance.
The blend
This Simon 2020 from Clos Marie is the result of a blend of grenache, syrah, and mourvèdre.
