The refined expression of a Californian Pinot Noir by The Hilt

The estate

Located in the Sta. Rita Hills AVA (American Viticultural Area) in the heart of Santa Barbara County on California’s Central Coast, The Hilt Estate is a remarkable estate owned by Stan Kroenke. He also heads two prestigious estates: the legendary Screaming Eagle in California and Bonneau du Martray in Burgundy. Since 2004, winemaking has been entrusted to the talented oenologist Matt Dees, a recognized figure of the Californian wine scene. The Hilt has forged a unique identity with cuvées inspired by Burgundian elegance, showcasing the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grape varieties.

The vineyard

This Californian wine comes from the Sta. Rita Hills appellation, a region renowned for its cool, maritime climate. The grapes are sourced from the Radian and Bentrock vineyards, utilizing different clones on varied terroirs that contribute complexity and nuances to the final blend.

Winemaking and aging

Aged for 11 months in French oak barrels, only 20% of which were new.
