Of great suppleness, this vintage seduces with its smoothness on the palate as well as its wide and intense aromatic palette.

A full-bodied and beautifully rich red wine from Napa Valley

The estate

The Mascot is a project initiated by Will Harlan, son of Bill Harlan, the founder of Harlan Estate, an emblematic domain of Napa Valley whose cuvées are recognised as being among the greatest Californian wines.

An informal project initially started among family members and a few friends, The Mascot aims to reveal, through young vines planted on hillside slopes, the identity and pedigree of the exceptional terroirs of three estates belonging to the Harlan family: Harlan Estate, BOND and Promontory.

Developed with the teams from the three properties, The Mascot is a pleasure wine, a sharing wine that introduces both the aromatic typicity of Californian cabernets and the exceptional quality potential of the greatest wines from these three domains.

The vineyard

The Mascot is a Napa Valley wine made from vines aged on average from 5 to 12 years, resulting from replanting programmes carried out by each of the three domains. These programmes aim, on the one hand, to promote the root system and maturation of young vines and, on the other hand, to ensure continuity between generations of plants. Each plot is individually managed by the respective teams of each of the three domains.

The vintage

A cool and wet winter and spring slow down the start of the vegetative cycle. The hot and dry summer characteristic of recent years enhances the vitality of the young vines. Lasting five and a half weeks, the harvest allowed the plots to be harvested according to their maturity.
