The estate
The family-run Champagne House Franck Bonville traces its roots back to 1900 when visionary Alfred Bonville acquired plots of land only a few years after the ravages of phylloxera on the Champagne vineyards.
The house was significantly expanded after 1945 thanks to Franck Bonville, who increased the size of the vineyard and developed the marketing of the first vintages under his name.
Gilles Bonville and his wife represented the third generation at the house, and gradually modernised the estate’s winemaking tools in 1970. After joining his parents in 1996, Olivier Bonville has devoted his attention to modern environmental practices.
The vineyard
Belles Voyes Blancs Grand Cru from Franck Bonville is produced from grapes planted on its eponymous plot. From a surface area of 0.80 ares, this historic vineyard was planted in 1960 halfway up a hillside over the commune of Oger, a benchmark Champagne terroir.
The dosage of this vintage Extra Brut champagne is 4.2 g/L.
Winemaking and ageing
Separate pressing of the juices then alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in Burgundy barrels.
Blend
Chardonnay (100%).
Tasting
Opening with delicious patisserie scents, the tasting gradually unveils generous buttery notes. Full and with a lovely richness, this champagne entices equally with its freshness and minerality, and its minty and faintly oxydised touches, characteristic of this vintage.
