Description
Tasting characteristics and advice for the "Triptyque" 2019 from Barons de Rothschild
Tasting
Appearance
The wine shows a brilliant golden hue with silvery highlights, lifted by a fine, generous stream of bubbles.
Nose
The nose reveals a refined, chalky minerality alongside aromas of white citrus, notably lemon and grapefruit. With aeration, the bouquet evolves toward more complex notes of red fruits, with hints of blood orange, wild strawberry and black cherry. Touches of toasted almonds and apricot crumble round out this aromatic palette.
Palate
The attack is broad and silky, offering a generous, refined texture. On the mid-palate, the hallmark minerality and salinity of Avize Chardonnay emerge, bringing zesty lemony energy and beautifully preserved freshness. The finish stands out for its remarkable length, with an elegant tension and lingering spicy notes that invite contemplation.
Food and wine pairings
This champagne is a perfect match for delicate fish, fine seafood, refined poultry and aged cheeses. It also elevates shellfish-based dishes and elaborate gastronomic preparations.
Serving and cellaring
The "Triptyque" 2019 is best enjoyed at a temperature between 8 and 10°C. Disgorged on 26 August 2025, this champagne can be enjoyed now and will continue to evolve beautifully in the cellar.
A champagne expressing three exceptional terroirs with finesse and balance
The estate
Created in 2005, the House of Barons de Rothschild represents the only winegrowing collaboration between the three branches of the Rothschild family. Based in Reims, this family-run, independent House makes its wines from eight hectares of estate-owned vineyards and partnerships with around twenty grower families. Led by Frédéric Mairesse and technically overseen by cellar master Guillaume Lété since 2016, the House embodies Champagne excellence through cuvées that champion finesse, elegance and the expression of Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs.
The vineyard
The "Triptyque" 2019 comes exclusively from three Grand Cru communes in Champagne. The Chardonnay comes from Avize, an iconic village in the Côte des Blancs renowned for its deep chalky soils that bring minerality and salinity. The Pinot Noir comes in equal parts from Ambonnay and Aÿ, two terroirs of the Montagne de Reims characterized by clay-limestone and limestone soils, contributing generosity, structure and aromatic complexity.
The vintage
The 2019 vintage in Champagne proved demanding, marked by spring frosts affecting various French wine regions. These conditions required rigorous selection at harvest, keeping only grapes of optimal quality and ripeness, resulting in a smaller crop of remarkable quality.
Winemaking and aging
Vinification of the "Triptyque" 2019 is carried out parcel by parcel in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentations take place in these same vessels, followed by an exceptionally long nine-month aging on fine lees. After blending, the wine undergoes secondary fermentation in bottle and is then aged for five years before disgorgement.
