Description
The finesse and complexity of an exceptional rosé champagne by Fleur de Miraval
The estate
Fleur de Miraval is the only Champagne House that exclusively produces Rosé Champagne. Stemming from the ambitious collaborative project between the Jolie-Pitt and Perrin families. A meticulously orchestrated artistic creation with Brad Pitt’s full involvement, Fleur de Miraval is the embodiment of five years of work and research conducted in high secrecy. Established in Mesnil-sur-Oger, in the Champagne region since 1919, the Péters family have been harvesting and handling these vines for six generations. They embarked on the Jolie-Pitt and Perrin adventure by providing their expertise and winemaking know-how. A lover of the wines produced by Château de Beaucastel and close to the Perrin family, Rodolphe Péters duly agreed to working on this project.
The wine
The Fleur de Miraval ER1 Rosé was born from the desire to produce a rosé champagne with a different style, combining old-vine Chardonnay with young Pinot Noir. This cuvée also pays tribute to the Comtesse de Miraval, born in Provence and who, according to legend, only drank rosé champagne.
A very rare fine wine, Fleur de Miraval ER1 is available in limited quantities with only 20,000 bottles produced for this first edition. The Fleur de Miraval ER1 comes in a black lacquered bottle to protect the precious champagne inside from damaging light until it is opened.
Vinification and ageing
This Rosé Champagne is aged on its lees for three years before being sold.
The blend
Fleur de Miraval ER1 is a blend of 75% Chardonnay of different ages and 25% young Pinot Noir.
ER1 by Fleur de Miraval: Characteristics and tasting tips
The tasting
Fleur de Miraval ER1 reveals a subtle pink colour. The Fleur de Miraval ER1 presents a delicate and lively aromatic bouquet, offering beautiful notes of fresh and tangy red berry fruit, like redcurrant and raspberry. Noble Chardonnay is expressed through mineral, saline and iodised notes, echoing the fruit’s great chalky terroirs of origin.
