The freshness and vivacity of a no-dosage champagne by Philipponnat

The estate

Established for nearly five centuries in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, the Philipponnat Champagne House is one of the historic names in the Champagne region. Singularity, excellence, generosity and simplicity are the values that guide this house, which has remained a family-owned business. Owned by the house since 1935, the mythical Clos des Goisses is one of the oldest and most prestigious plots in Champagne. This gem is the source of rare and exceptionally powerful champagnes.

The vineyard

This cuvée stems from an exceptional 20-hectare vineyard of Premier and Grand Crus in Champagne, in Aÿ, Mareuil-sur-Aÿ and Avenay.

The wine

The Cuvée Royale Réserve pays tribute to the Philipponnat family's ancestors: vineyard owners, winemakers, suppliers to Louis XIV, magistrates and royal mayors in Ay. This champagne offers a beautiful balance between structure, length and vinosity on the palate.

The total absence of sugar provides this champagne with the organoleptic qualities of the base wine and blends minerality and vinosity with precise aromas (lemon notes, orange zest), three characteristics of Philipponnat's signature style.

Winemaking and ageing

This cuvée is vinified in a traditional manner, avoiding any premature oxidation, with partial malolactic fermentation and ageing in reserve-wine barrels to develop the complexity of the aromas. This champagne is aged for three years.

Pinot Noir (65%)
Chardonnay (30%)
Pinot Meunier (5%).

Characteristics and tasting tips for Royale Réserve Non Dosé by Philipponnat

The pale gold colour highlights the finesse of a persistent and delicate effervescence.

The nose exhibits a palette of floral notes reminiscent of lime blossom, hawthorn and vine flower.

Lively and tense, the palate seduces with its purity, its precision as well as its beautiful acidulous citrus notes. The finish is marked by toasted notes of warm bread and fresh apple.

Food and wine pairing

Enjoy as an aperitif, this Cuvée Royale Réserve Non Dosé by Philipponnat will complement raw fish, seafood and Japanese cuisine.

To serve

For the best tasting, serve at 8°C.

This champagne expresses its liveliness during the first 6 to 18 months following disgorgement, the date of which is indicated on the label. This champagne can be laid down for several years in order to develop its aromatic complexity.
