The complexity and freshness of Gosset's first vintage Blanc de Blancs champagne
A legacy of traditional know-how, the Gosset Champagne House has perpetuated its style over the centuries. The Gosset family has been established in Aÿ, a Champagne Grand Cru, since the 16th century. For 16 generations, the Gosset House has been perpetuating excellence. The current trailblazer is Odilon de Varine, the house's cellar master and deputy general manager. The house’s champagnes are recognisable in particular by the shape of their bottle, a reference to the "antique" bottles used in the 18th century.
Gosset owns plots of land in the Champagne Grands and Premiers Crus of the Côte des Blancs and the Montagne de Reims. The 140 hectares of vineyards are planted on the crus of Cumières, Courmas, Chamery, Avenay, Vertus, Villers-Marmery, Grauves, Avize Trépail and Cuis.
Celebris Blanc de Blancs Vintage Brut 2012 is the first vintage Blanc de Blancs of Gosset. Produced in limited quantities, this Brut Champagne is made from a rigorous selection of grapes from the villages of Ambonnay, Avize, Cramant, Cumières, Passy-sur-Marne Trépail, Vertus, Villers-Marmery and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger.
This cuvée, with a dosage of 7g/litre, has been aged for 9 years on its lees.
Celebris Blanc de Blancs Vintage Brut 2012 by Gosset: Characteristics and tasting tips
A beautiful golden colour with subtle emerald hues. The effervescence is utterly fine.
The fresh and expressive nose exudes mentholated and fruity notes (strawberries, pink grapefruit) as well as frangipane.
The precise attack is sustained by refreshing lemon notes. The palate reveals a delicious complexity throughout the tasting. Baked apples with salted butter, tarte tatin, far breton, so many aromas blend harmoniously with a spicy feel (candied ginger, star anise). Lively and lingering, the finish is seductive with its minerality reminiscent of fresh pineapples and a hint of citrus fruit.
