Description
Characteristics and tasting notes for the Nocturne Blue Wave Edition by Taittinger
Tasting notes
Appearance
This wine reveals a pale yellow hue enhanced by shimmering highlights. Its effervescence is expressed through fine bubbles that form a delicate ring of mousse.
Nose
The bouquet opens on floral notes of acacia and elderflower, mingled with soft hints of lychee and honey. After aeration, aromas of stone fruits such as date, apricot and yellow peach emerge. The finish reveals caramelised, vanilla and dried plant nuances.
Palate
The attack is generous and forthright while retaining a lovely freshness. The palate offers flavours of cooked fig, apricot, acacia honey and lightly toasted almond powder. This unctuous, round and rich wine unfolds into a long, supple and subtly vanilla-tinged finish.
Food and wine pairings
This cuvée pairs beautifully with indulgent desserts, particularly those made with chocolate, or with foie gras served alongside gingerbread. It is also ideal for rounding off a late evening.
Serving and cellaring
The non-vintage Nocturne Blue Wave Edition is best enjoyed at a temperature of between 8 and 10°C. As for its ageing potential, it is recommended to drink it by around 2028.
A smooth and unctuous Taittinger Champagne
The estate
Founded under its current name in 1932 by Pierre Taittinger, the House is based in Reims, at the heart of the Champagne wine region. Today, the Taittinger family, represented notably by Pierre-Emmanuel, Vitalie and Clovis, runs the estate in partnership with Crédit Agricole du Nord-Est. Spanning 288 hectares, making it the third-largest estate in the region, the property stands out for its strong environmental commitment and its style focused on elegance. This prestigious brand shines worldwide thanks to its refined cuvées.
The vineyard
The grapes come from a selection of 40 different crus, among the finest terroirs of the Champagne appellation. The estate is strongly committed to environmental preservation, holding High Environmental Value certification (level 3), Sustainable Viticulture in Champagne certification and ISO 14001 certification. Cultivation practices have excluded herbicides and insecticides since 2005, thereby promoting biodiversity and soil vitality.
The blend
This cuvée is the result of a complex blend bringing together grapes from several different harvests, thereby ensuring consistent quality and style.
Winemaking and ageing
The non-vintage Nocturne Blue Wave Edition benefits from an extended ageing period of 3 years in the cellar on laths, giving it its characteristic maturity and roundness.
Grape varieties
40% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir and 25% Pinot Meunier.
